In just three years of expanding the Tesla factory near Berlin, an area of 329 hectares which represents around half a million trees has already been deforested. The environmental company Kayrros monitors the area well and satellite images show that deforestation is more than radical.

The expansion of the Tesla factory continues despite the massive protests of climate activists who are trying in every possible way to stop the continuous deforestation. Many of them have set up a makeshift camp here and are monitoring the situation around the clock. One of the groups managed to destroy one of the electricity poles and production at the factory had to be suspended for a few days during March.

One of the activists belonging to the Turn Off Tesla's Tap alliance said that the analysis shows that the production of electric vehicles causes widespread destruction of nature from deforestation to heavy metal mining.

The chief analyst of Kayross points out that the felled trees correspond to approximately thirteen thousand tons of carbon dioxide which is the amount that 2,800 cars with an internal combustion engine emit into the air annually.

Further expansion of the factory in Germany was approved this July, and as a result up to one million electric cars should be produced here annually. From the beginning the Tesla factory near Berlin has been accompanied by a number of minor incidents in the form of diesel leaks and various colors. The company itself commented that none of the incidents caused damage to the environment.
